Revival! New posts Soon(TM)

I’m about to head to Anime 2013, for the first time in The Hague, so that saves me 3 hours of travel time – hurrah!

Anyway, I’m not cosplaying this time, but I’ll be taking a ton of photos, so expect maybe 1 or 2 previews over the weekend (depending on how much we’ll party at night), and a bunch of galleries sometime next week.

My Youtube channel‘s been a lot more active lately, so you guys should check that out in the meantime!

As a teaser, have the latest video I uploaded:

See you guys soon!

What’s in the Box? – Episode 4

And if you thought Episode 4 comes quickly after 3, 5 will be up in 2 or 3 days, once I’ve filmed that, and after that it’ll be at least 1 photo-review, and a few more unboxings. I figured I’d fill up my YouTube channel as much as I can before I’m off to Japan, where approximately 98,36% of all new content will be about food.

Enjoy!

Japan Festival 2012, Part 2

Here’s my video of the karate demonstration at the Japan Festival 2012.

I’m a bit too tired to write anything else about it, apart from that I don’t know who the people giving the demonstration, since I didn’t get that bit on video, and I mean, it’s been a month… I forget stuff.

Anyway, see my previous post for more info about the festival, and enjoy the video!

What’s in the Box? – Episode 3

And here’s What’s in the Box? Episode 3, as promised!

A fairly small box when compared to the last 3 episodes, mostly because I turned down my BUY ALL THE THINGS-knob a fair bit because of my upcoming trip to Japan (3 weeks left!).

Sorry about bits being out of shot half the time, I moved the box around after centering the camera on it, and didn’t think it would be that bad. Next one will be shot with my new 35mm lens, which has helped quite a bit with that problem.

And if click below, you can see where Pannya has taken up residency :)

Unboxing: Touwa Erio Beach Queen by Wave

And here’s the third unboxing I promised – uploaded a bit back by now, but might still be new to some people.

Tomorrow will bring a new What’s in the Box?, and hopefully either another video from the Japanfestival or an unboxing.

Enjoy!

Unboxing: Amano Touka Nendoroid by GSC

And here’s today’s unboxing: Good Smile Company’s Nendoroid incarnation of Amano Touka, the Book Girl who’s absolutely not a demon. Or a gremlin. But she is incredibly cute.

Apart from CthulhAmano, though it is one of the more unique Nendoroid-faces you can get.

Also, sorry about the weird glitch after about 10 minutes, my camera decided to stop recording all of a sudden. And it had some trouble focussing, so I’m sorry it’s a quite a bit out of focus in the second half of the video. I’m probably not going to use AF anymore… though with the lack of better lighting I sort of need to. Ah well, something to worry about tomorrow when I’m shooting more videos.

Enjoy this one for now! (Also, note it’s longer than 15 minutes! Yay longer upload limit ^_^b)

Unboxing: Saber Alter by Good Smile Company

I really should stop procrastinating  and actually post things here… I shall blame it on partying last weekend due to it being my birthday on Sunday. All the other times I shall blame on laziness.

Anyhow, I got around to filming 3 more unboxings, and will be posting them up here for the next few days, and in the mean time I’ll film a few more and render out the latest unboxing video (from last weekend), and I’ve also got some more videos from the Japanfestival to render out, one overview and one for the karate-demonstration. I might also film another unboxing tonight, since even more things arrived at my parents’ place during the week, if I don’t get around to that, I’ll do that next weekend.

And I’m still waiting for my LED video lamp I ordered… It’s been 1,5 month now, and the tracking code gives up 2 different statuses, one of which can’t physically be possible, the other indicating it got shipped back to China for some unknown reason. So until that’s sorted, lighting’s going to be fairly wonky, as I’m reliant on sunlight, which isn’t constant with clouds moving around. At least my 50mm lens is pretty light-sensitive, and I’ll get a 35mm soon, which means better close-up shots, and when combined with the video lamp, proper lighting.

For now, enjoy the unboxing:

Japan Festival 2012, Part 1

Yes, I still live, and have finally gotten around (or should I say: I could finally be arsed) to editing and uploading the videos I shot at the Japan Festival in Amstelveen on 9 and 10 June 2012.

The festival has been around for some time as an Asian-themed festival as far as I could tell, and in 2010 it was decided it  should uniquely celebrate the relations between Japan and The Netherlands, renaming it the Japan Festival. With the tsunami last year however, the 2011 edition was cancelled, so this was the first time the festival was held in this form.

What’s in the Box – Episode 2

Episode 2 of my What’s in the Box series is now uploaded, watch it below – now in glorious 1080p with good audio, thanks to the wonders of my new Nikon D7000 and Audio-Technica ATR-3350 microphone!

… and me actually looking up some tips about filming with a DSLR, instead of just fumbling around like I did with the previous videos (except the Japanmarkt ones, I knew what I was doing there) ^.^;;

Anyhow, enjoy the video!

Raiden’s Yosakoi Performance at the Japanmarkt 2012

Here are two videos of the yosakoi performance by the Leiden University Yosakoi group ‘Raiden’ (雷電) in the garden of the Sieboldhuis in Leiden on Sunday 27 May 2012. The first is an original medley, the second a more traditional routine.

Yosakoi is a very energetic, relatively modern style of Japanese dance, combining traditional styles of dancing with modern music. Click here for more information on Wikipedia, because I don’t know that much about it myself.

Enjoy the videos!

Still alive, have a video!

Yes, I am still alive!

I got a bit caught up with buying a new camera (an ass-kicking Nikon D7000), playing games (Ghost Recon Online beta and DayZ), and taking final exams (which I should’ve almost all passed), and this little site got pushed to the side a bit.

Anyway, I’m back now, and I’ve been to the Japanmarkt (Japanese Market) today, organised by the Sieboldhuis in Leiden. The weather was absolutely beautiful, so I got to play around with my camera for a bit. Shot a few photos and a few short videos, the first of which you can watch below. The others I’ll upload over the next few days, as well as the photo-review for Fiolina Germi. Hopefully once that’s all done I’ve received the film-lamp I ordered, and I can finally shoot proper indoor video footage for the unboxings to come, so watch out for that.

Here’s the first video, one of Taiko Kids’ short performances outside the Sieboldhuis, enjoy!

Unboxing: Fiolina Germi by Embrace Japan

Today’s unboxing: Fiolina Germi from Metal Slug 4 by Embrace Japan.

Please forgive me for mispronouncing her name for the entire video – I really shouldn’t record these when I’m tired.

As usual – watch it at 720p or it’ll look horrible.

Bought from Hobbystock for ¥8316 (RRP ¥8800).

Fiolina Germi on My Figure Collection.

Unboxing: Aisaka Taiga Nendoroid

All righty, here’s the unboxing video I promised:

Unboxing: Misaka Mikoto, Misaka Imouto & Shirai Kuroko

Video unboxing of Misaka Mikoto, Misaka Imouto and Shirai Kuroko by Penguin Parade (and breaking parts in the process).

Triple whammy to make up for not posting it the first week like I wanted to, but I couldn’t really do anything until I fixed my internet connection in my new room.

Bought all 3 from Hobbystock.
